Freeport, ME (May 28, 2023) – The Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office responded to the scene of a major explosion incident that took place in the Freeport area on Friday morning, May 26.
According to officials, just before 9:00 a.m., a gas cylinder blew up outside Dave’s Junkyard. Authorities rushed to the scene and located significant damage in the area of Allen Range Road.
One man suffered injuries as a result of the explosion. The man was working on an excavator at the time of the explosion. The victim was treated on-site briefly and rushed to a local hospital, where they underwent further medical care. The man, identified as a 60-year-old, was admitted in critical condition.
At this time, the incident is being investigated.
