Knoxville, TN (June 5, 2023) – A major explosion took place on Saturday evening in Knox County that left several people injured.

At around 644 p.m. on June 3, emergency officials were called to the scene of an explosion at the Concorde Marina Boat Ramp.

Reports from officials show that a boat was positioned at the dock during the evening hours. Just as the boat finished fueling at the marina gas dock, it exploded and caught fire.

Four people were in the area at the time of the explosion. All four victims were burned as a result of the incident. Three of the victims suffered serious injuries and had to be transported to area hospitals. The victims ended up being transported by LifeFlight to Vanderbilt Burn Center for emergency treatment.

At this time, the cause of the explosion is under investigation.
