Explosions in Nebraska
Explosions take place far too often in the United States. Many of these incidents result in serious injuries. Victims of explosions are often left with injuries that require extensive medical treatment. Common injuries reported in explosions include:
- Burns: Explosions can result in severe burns, which can range from first-degree burns (superficial damage to the outer layer of the skin) to third-degree burns (penetrating through all layers of the skin). Burns can cause excruciating pain, scarring, disfigurement, and long-term physical and psychological effects.
- Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI): The force and impact of an explosion can cause traumatic brain injuries, including concussions, contusions, and diffuse axonal injuries. TBIs can lead to cognitive impairments, memory problems, difficulties with speech and motor skills, personality changes, and other long-lasting neurological complications.
- Blast Injuries: Explosions generate a blast wave that can cause a range of injuries, including eardrum rupture, lung damage, internal organ injuries, and skeletal fractures. The sudden and intense pressure changes from the blast wave can lead to immediate and severe injuries, even in individuals who are not in close proximity to the explosion.
