Crawfordsville, IN (August 8, 2023) – A man and woman lost their lives following a major house explosion in northwest Crawfordsville.
The incident occurred on Saturday, August 5.
According to reports from area firefighters, an explosion occurred inside of a house located at 2962 West Montgomery County Road 400 North. The incident caused the house and the attached garage to catch on fire.
Firefighters arrived on-site and located the structure fully engulfed in flames. One person was located outside on the front lawn. The victim was airlifted from the scene and flown to a hospital in Indianapolis.
Two people in the structure, identified as a 91-year-old woman and a 90-year-old man, both suffered fatal injuries.
At this time, the incident is being investigated by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Indiana State Police, Crawfordsville Fire Department, Indiana State Fire Marshall’s Office, and the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.
