Fatal Explosions in California

Long Beach, CA – Two Killed, Three Injured in Pleasure Boat Explosion near Alamitos BayBeing involved in an explosion can be incredibly challenging to deal with. Unfortunately, we see countless victims lose their lives as a result of explosions that occur across our state. Boat explosions can be extremely devastating to deal with.

Unfortunately, there are several factors that commonly contribute to these incidents taking place. One of the most common causes is improper fueling procedures. Inadvertently introducing gasoline vapors into the bilge area, which houses the fuel tank and engine components, can create a highly flammable atmosphere prone to ignition from even minor sparks or open flames.

Another common cause of boat explosions is electrical malfunctions and wiring deficiencies. Faulty electrical systems can lead to overheating or short circuits, generating sparks capable of igniting any surrounding combustible materials, such as fuel leaks or volatile engine fumes. In addition, mechanical failures pose another significant hazard on vessels; inadequate maintenance practices may result in fuel leaks or excessive heat generation within engines and exhaust systems.
