Farmington Township, OH (August 13, 2023) – Several people were hospitalized as a result of an explosion incident that took place in Farmington Township on Friday, August 11.
According to reports provided by the Mesopotamia Fire Department Chief, a person was inside of a trailer located near the intersection of Clark Road and North Lake Road during the afternoon hours when they were preparing for a wedding.
A leaking propane tank caused the trailer to explode, resulting in the trailer being completely destroyed and multiple other trailers in the area being damaged. A recreational building in the area was also damaged due to the explosion.
The owner of the trailer was airlifted and flown to Akron Children’s Hospital, where they were admitted to the burn unit. Two other men were transported to hospitals located in Trumbull County. A fourth victim was transported to a hospital in Geauga County for emergency care.
The incident is being investigated.
