Lake of Ozarks, MO (August 13, 2023) – A major explosion was reported at the Lake of the Ozarks on Friday that left more than a dozen people injured.
The explosion occurred just before 4:30 p.m. on August 11.
According to reports from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a buildup of gas fumes inside of an engine sparked a major boat explosion at the Millstone Marina located at the Lake of the Ozarks on Friday evening.
Three people were ejected from the boat as a result of the explosion.
A total of 16 people were injured as a result of the incident. The victims ranged in age from six years old to 43 years old. Four of the victims on board were children under the age of 12, and three were teenagers.
The 16 victims were provided care at the scene. Five of the injured parties were transported to area hospitals with moderate injuries.
At this time, investigations are underway.
