Castalia, NC (August 22, 2023) – A 25-year-old man lost his life as a result of an explosion that took place on Monday, August 21.
At around 11:00 a.m., the Nash County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene of an explosion that took place at a tobacco farm located on Red Bud Road.
According to official reports, a propane tank explosion occurred during the morning hours. As a result of the explosion, some type of equipment that the man was working on struck him in the face.
The man suffered significant injuries as a result of the explosion. He ended up passing away as a result of the extent of injuries suffered.
The incident is currently being investigated by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and other state officials. No other injuries were reported.
