Explosions in Pennsylvania
Explosions in the United States are the cause of thousands of injuries every year. Unfortunately, there are instances when these explosions involve appliances, such as ovens. Oven explosions can take place for a variety of reasons. Some of the most common causes include:
- Gas Leaks: The buildup of natural gas or propane inside an oven due to leaks in the gas supply lines or faulty connections can lead to explosive conditions if they are ignited.
- Faulty Oven Components: Malfunctioning oven components, such as heating elements or thermostats, can cause overheating and potential explosions if they are not repaired or properly maintained.
- Pilot Light Malfunction: Ovens with pilot lights can experience explosions if the pilot light goes out and gas continues to flow into the oven, which will eventually ignite and cause a severe explosion.
- Incorrect Oven Use: Operating the oven with the door partially open or blocked can disrupt the normal flow of heat and gases, which can lead to a deadly explosion.
Unfortunately, explosions often result in serious injuries, such as cuts and lacerations, inhalation injuries, and severe burns.
