Decatur, Ill (September 14, 2023) – A major explosion incident was reported in the Decatur area that left more than half a dozen people injured. The incident took place on Sunday, September 10.
According to reports, an explosion occurred at the east plant of the Archer-Daniels-Midland facility. The incident caused a fire to occur, which resulted in significant damage to the crop processing operations.
Firefighters from the Decatur Fire Department rushed to the scene to assist.
A total of eight people were injured due to the explosion. The victims were rushed to area hospitals for emergency medical care.
The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is currently investigating the incident.
