Dixon, IL (September 30, 2023) – A fiery explosion reported in the Dixon area claimed one person’s life. The incident occurred just before 9:10 a.m. on September 28.
According to reports provided by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, an explosion occurred inside a car located at the Boat Trailer Park in the 2000 block of Lowell Parker Road.
Authorities arrived at the scene and found the car engulfed in flames. An adult male was inside of the vehicle. Firefighters went to work quickly on extricating the fire and removing the man from the vehicle.
The man incurred fatal injuries as a result of the explosion and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Investigations provided by the Illinois State Police and the Illinois State Fire Marshal’s Office concluded that the explosion took place in the passenger compartment of the vehicle for unknown reasons.
At this time, investigations are ongoing. No other injuries were reported.
