Earlville, IL (October 18, 2023) – One person was hospitalized with injuries following an explosion that took place on Tuesday afternoon in DeKalb County.
The incident took place at around 1:40 p.m. on October 17.
Reports provided by the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office indicate that an explosion took place on Goble Road in the area near Bend Road during the afternoon hours. Immediately after the explosion, the house caught on fire. Authorities arrived at the scene and located the home, which was completely leveled and destroyed. The Sheriff’s Office, the Illinois Conservation Police, and multiple firefighter units responded to the scene to provide assistance.
Firefighters went to work quickly on battling the blaze. Firefighters remained at the scene extensively as they worked to take control of the situation.
One person was injured as a result of the explosion. An ambulance responded to the scene to care for the victim and transport them to a local hospital.
The incident is currently being investigated by the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office.
