Portland, ME (October 21, 2023) – One person was transported to a local medical facility for the treatment of injuries following an explosion that occurred on Wednesday morning in Portland.
On October 18, emergency crews were called to the scene of an explosion inside a boat that was located off the Ocean Gateway Pier.
According to officials, an explosion took place in a cruise ship’s engine crankcase during the morning hours. The boat was carrying approximately 200 passengers and crew members at the time of the incident.
One person on board, identified as a crew member, was injured in the explosion. The victim suffered burns and had to be hospitalized.
