Knoxville, TN (October 27, 2023) – An explosion reported in Knox County on Wednesday claimed the life of a 66-year-old woman.
On October 25, the Knox County Sheriff's Office and the Rural Metro Fire responded to the scene of an explosion that took place on Fort Sumter Road.
Reports from Rural Metro show that a single-wide trailer exploded in the 5500 block of the roadway at around 3:00 a.m. Authorities arrived at the scene and found the trailer engulfed in flames.
A 66-year-old woman became trapped inside of the home and was unable to escape. The woman suffered fatal injuries as a result of the explosion and was subsequently pronounced deceased after she was removed from the structure.
At this time, the incident is being investigated.
