Clinton Twp., MI (December 13, 2023) – A homeowner lost their life as a result of a major explosion that occurred in Clinton Township. The incident was reported to the Clinton Township Fire Department at around 11:40 p.m. on December 11.

According to the area officials, an explosion occurred at a residential structure in the 21,000 block of Vermander Avenue. The explosion caused the home to be engulfed in flames, causing severe damage to the structure. Firefighters rushed to the scene and shut down the roadway in the area of Gratiot Avenue and 15 Mile Road as they worked to battle the blaze. The homeowner, identified as a 68-year-old male, sustained fatal injuries. The victim was located deceased inside of the structure. At this time, the incident is being investigated. Authorities believe that a propane tank or a space heater may be the cause of the explosion.
