Sewickley Heights, PA (December 14, 2023) – Emergency crews were requested to provide assistance on-site at a home explosion that occurred in Sewickley Heights on Tuesday evening, December 12. The incident was reported at around 5:20 p.m.

According to local law enforcement, an explosion occurred at a home located in the 500 block of Backbone Road. The incident caused moderate damage to the structure after causing it to catch on fire. Reports indicate that there were a total of three different contractors working on site on the furnace, which was located in the basement of the carriage house located on the property. One of the three contractors was injured as a result of the explosion. The victim was rushed to an area hospital for the treatment of burn injuries.
